HIPS RIP

We were delighted to hear the news this morning (20th May 2010) that the new government have very quickly acted on their manifesto promise and have today suspended the requirement for a HIP when selling your house.

Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) are still required, but there is now no delay in marketing a property, for as long as the EPC has been ordered, the property can be put on the market immediately.

James Hayman-Joyce said that he was delighted to hear the news, and is looking forward to the removal of more New Labour red tape over the coming months.

Although the announcement on HIPS says that agents can now decline to show someone a HIP on an existing property, we will continue to offer to send HIPS to interested parties.
